1 The Hythe, is a new traditionally built fisherman’s cottage (available for self catering holiday rental) which is located on ‘The Hythe’ in the historical picturesque fishing town of Findochty, Moray. In the 1800′s fishing was conducted here from this natural inlet and in 1903 a slipway was built by Herd & McKenzie where around 32 steam drifters were built, up to the outbreak of World War 1. The famous painting ‘Home With The Tide’ by James Clarke Hooke, which now hangs in the Tate Gallery was painted here.
Our house sits directly across from the sandy beach of ‘The Hythe’. The views from the house are spectacular and can be seen from the front door, lounge and bedrooms. You can sit and watch the creel and leisure boats sail by and even dolphins if you are lucky! On summer days, the picnic benches and BBQ area on the beach opposite are perfect for eating outdoors.
The interior of our cottage has been completed to a very high standard in oak and it is beautifully furnished in a modern style. There are two bedrooms and it is suitable for 4-5 people. The location is peaceful and perfect for a relaxing self catering break, golfing holiday or family fun.
